Brand Biscuit at the DBI Awards

I wanted to take a moment to talk about last Friday night, 27th January 2023. It's taken a few days for my feelings and emotions to sink in, to be honest. As many of you know Brand Biscuit has been on an incredible journey over the last 12 months with the DBI and Jabulani Coffee. This Gala hosted by Diversity Business Incubator marks a very important milestone which I shared with over 500 people on stage.

This time last year I was introduced to a community that truly champions equality, bravery, independence and personal growth. I unexpectedly left the awards buzzing with energy and a newfound enthusiasm to do what I could to support and share all the incredible work the DBI programme does for encouraging diversity in Plymouth. My new home. In collaboration with Tom Carder and Owens Coffee we found ourselves travelling to Rwanda to tell an origin story of a lifetime, which in turn links a motherland to our South West homeland by giving back to local communities and supporting a thriving network of young, ambitious entrepreneurs. It was an absolute privilege to be on stage amongst so many inspiring people who without their words of wisdom the last 12 months could have been entirely different.

My goal on Friday was to tell this short tale with the aim to inspire newcomers and old-timers that Plymouth has something special, and that words can inspire great action. Thank you Jabo Butera Liliane Uwimana Fitz Spencer for your belief and drive and to all the Biscuiteers who have all played some part in this journey too. Can't wait to see where we all are in 12-months time!

Yes of course I was nervous as hell, so this was a personal level-up for me too! #geddon
